The analysis of historical documents is a key feature in any study of history. What a document says, or doesn't say, can reveal so much more than what a textbook will reveal. Importantly, however, analyzing a document allows for the student of history to exercise their mind and to think. The history student is able to come to conclusions individually without relying on the words of others to determine their opinion.
